Prononc. et Orth. : [iksja], [iksi]. Ac. dep. 1762 : ixia. Étymol. et Hist. 1627 (MATTHIOLUS, Sur Dioscoride, p. 266 : Aucuns appellent la carline, Ixia). Empr. au lat. ixia « carline » et celui-ci au gr. « id. ».
